Art Fund Pavilion

The pavilion design for this competition entry for additional gallery space at The Lightbox in London embraces its context and invites people into its volume through a series of permeable facades.

Physical continuity is provided through each end of the structure; one end at a ‘human scale’ relating to the access of the Lightbox gallery; and the other provides a point of departure from the confines of enclosure to the openness of the surrounding context. Flexible openings allow adaptation for visual interaction between spaces and the dynamic roof and wall lines create a graduating perception of scale, enclosure and ultimately shelter.
