Planning success at Squirrel Works

Planning permission has been granted for our proposals to transform historic Squirrel Works, located in the Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, into four spacious apartments, one townhouse and a large ground floor work space.

The purpose built factory, designed by Birmingham Architect John G Dunn in 1912, will be sympathetically restored, removing modern additions to rediscover historic spaces and original features. This will include the reinstatement of the glazed roof above the courtyard to allow daylight to flood into the centre of the building again.

Option-B-2

A crisp contemporary penthouse will be constructed with carefully specified glazing allowing the building to benefit from the impressive views over Birmingham. Translucent 'glass plank' cladding will reflect the hues and colours of the sky and city while providing a subtle contrast to the red brick and terracotta detailing of the existing building.

The restoration of Squirrel Works will start on site this summer.
